Archer is committed to planting 189 trees (native trees and shrubs) per annum within the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, which are helping to join small patches of remnant vegetation. Besides the all-important role of sequestering carbon from the atmosphere, the trees and shrubs help to reduce salinity, water and soil erosion, and provide habitat for the endangered Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoo, Malleefowl and other threatened flora and fauna.

Other Environmental Initiatives

  • Purchasing ‘environmentally friendly’ paper only. Paper represents one of Archer Solutions largest environmental impacts. That’s why we make sure the paper we buy comes from forests that are managed sustainably and from mills that have an industry-recognised accreditation such as ISO 14001. Where possible, we buy Australian-made paper. And we’re constantly on the lookout for ways to reduce how much we use;
  • Reducing energy consumption. Lighting accounts for more than 20% of greenhouse emissions from commercial buildings. This figure could be reduced by as much as 70% through simple measures. That’s why we’ve introduced a range of energy saving initiatives such as lighting assessments and installing energy efficient LED lighting in our offices;
  • Implementing online timesheets into our clients business processes;
  • Utilising online rostering systems, instead of regular paper methods;
  • Using ‘electronic/digital’ endorsing where possible, with all contracts, employment notices etc.;
  • Implementing videoconferencing technology for meetings;
  • Using on-screen projectors instead of paper handouts at meetings; and
  • Recycling office waste.

Gift of Life Foundation

Archer Solutions are avid supporters of the Gift of Life Foundation. The Gift of Life Foundation has been established to make Australians aware of our organ transplant crisis and encourage more Australians to become donors.

Organ Donation – General Information

Each year there are only approximately 200 organ donors across Australia. This figure equates to Australia having one of the lowest organ donor rates in the developed world and hundreds of people die each year while waiting for an organ transplant.

For people with serious or life-threatening illness, organ transplantation is their only option for a second chance at life. More than 30,000 Australians have received transplants in the last 60 years. Improved survival rates now mean that most recipients of organs can look forward to a better quality of life.

Less than one per cent of deaths occur in such a way that organ donation is possible and currently only an average of 50 per cent of families consent to organ donation of a loved one across Australia.

The organ donation rate could be dramatically improved if more people discussed their wishes with their family and registered their decision on the Australian Organ Donor Registry.
